Written Parliamentary Question: Mineworkers Pension Scheme

Many people have raised the issue of the Mineworkers Pension Scheme with me over the General Election campaign and since. Labour committed to end the injustice of the scheme in it’s manifesto, and I have since confirmed with Sarah Jones, a Minister in the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, that we remain committed to this.

Sarah Jones answered: “Our Manifesto committed to reviewing the surplus sharing arrangements and transferring the Investment Reserve back to scheme members. We are committed to ending the injustice of the Mineworkers' Pension Scheme and work on delivering these commitments is already underway.”

A written parliamentary question allows me as your MP to get answers from Government ministers on what their departments are doing.
