Fundraiser for those affected by flooding

It’s been a long few days for everyone locally - not the start to the year we'd hoped for, but one we’ll never forget. We've all seen the strength of our community, and I want to thank the emergency services, council teams, and local residents, who have been fantastic.

Flooding in Platt Bridge on New Years Day 2025

My thoughts are with those going to sleep in temporary accommodation or struggling in cold, damp homes. Lots of people asked me how they could help those affected, so this fundraiser is one way we can stand together, shoulder to shoulder, as a community.

All the money raised will be used to support those impacted by the floods, primarily in Platt Bridge, but also in Abram and Ashton.

If you have any questions about or need support, you can email me (josh.simons.mp@parliament.uk) or your local Abram councillors: Martyn Smethurst (M.Smethurst@wigan.gov.uk), Nazia Rehman (N.Rehman@wigan.gov.uk) and Eunice Smethurst (E.Smethurst@wigan.gov.uk).
